Travelling to Lamu by air

From Nairobi Wilson Airport Daily Flights with Air Kenya and Safari Link. Or from JK International Airport Kenya Airways to Lamu Manda Island.

From Mombasa Mombasa Air Safari (by arrangements)

From Malindi Kenya Airways (scheduled flights)

Airport Transfers Shella jetty is a 20 minute boat ride from Manda Island airstrip (adjacent to Lamu Island). There is a 10 minute walk from Manda jetty to the check in desk for your flight. Boat transfers can be booked where house staff meet you at the airport @ Ksh 200.00 per person. Otherwise one can take the Peponi Hotel boat at the same price.

Travelling to Lamu by road Approx 3 hour drive on mainly tarmacked roads from Malindi to Mokowe. Cars are left at Mokowe jetty and one negotiates for an 'askari' (guard) to look after the car. There is a ferry that can take you to Lamu town and from there one takes another boat to Shella. Alternatively a boat can be arranged to meet guests at Mokowe and transfer straight to Shella (at cost).
